Welcome to RuenMallika
The story of RuenMallika began in 2002 when A.Mallika Thamwattana, CEO of Mallika Interfood Co., Ltd., discovered an ancient Thai house. This two-story teakwood house, built around 1810 during the early Rattanakosin period in the reign of King Rama II, is located in Soi Seththi, Sukhumvit 22, in the heart of Bangkok.
After discovering this ancient Thai house, A.Mallika was deeply impressed by the beauty of Thai architecture. This inspired a desire to preserve and promote the elegance of Thai arts and culture, ensuring it would be passed down to future generations and shared with people from around the world.
A.Mallika transformed this ancient Thai house into a Thai restaurant that embodies every aspect of Thai culture. The restaurant combines the beauty of the traditional teakwood house with the delicious flavors of authentic Thai cuisine made from traditional recipes.
The restaurant offers over 100 dishes with bold and intense flavors, prepared with high-quality, chemical-free ingredients. Each dish is elegantly garnished with intricately carved vegetables and fruits arranged as flowers and leaves, served on celadon green pottery from Northern Thailand. Guests are also impressed by the beauty of the staff’s attire, which includes traditional silk and handwoven cotton sarongs, reflecting the historical clothing of Thai women.
RuenMallika also offers an experience of traditional Thai dining culture with “Pueb Mue,” an ancient practice where family members sit in a circle to share a meal. This tradition highlights familial relationships, humility, and respect, reflecting the essence of “Eat Thai, Live Thai” from the past to the present.
